Re: The Chronicles of Harry Lacotte
It required some tricky maneuvering, but after a painful time Harry managed to probe around with his feet until they found the ladder beneath the floor running vertically down the below shaft. His feet secure he lowered himself with his good arm before spotting iron rungs embedded in the ceiling of the shaft running from the hatch to the inset rungs running downward.
The job now somewhat easier he groped along the rungs until he reached the wall and briefed a sigh of relief, pausing to catch his breath he cocked his head his hearing picking up on a new noise!
<Perrception roll?>

Re: The Chronicles of Harry Lacotte
As the subterranean world quietened, Harry listened, at first the sloshing of the underworlds waterways, the dripping from dark corners then a distant clatter. Something striking or bouncing off the tile or brickwork of the chutes.
Then louder, more rapid as something or somethings descended!

In a split second he spins a mental coin, and dashes as fast as his fatigued and battered body can handle up the right hand of the T junction. Panting and growling curses as he searches desperately for some cover.

Re: The Chronicles of Harry Lacotte
Harry snarled through the pain, the clattering growing more impatient, more eager.
Swinging himself onto the rungs, he allowed himself to drop the few feet into the T-Junction properly, casting around before he spotted an outcropping sitting beneath the water line, an overhang in the sewer platform.
His nostrils sealing shut, he breathed in an inordinate amount of fetid air and dived, rolling through the murky water beneath the overhand above him the junction turned blazing orange, tumbling fire danced the length of the tunnel, boiling the water above him.

Re: The Chronicles of Harry Lacotte
Gaining his bearings, Harry swam through the murk as fast as was possible in the direction he hoped he might find the fortune teller; which proved difficult with the amount of debris and snagging hazards he was encountering. The orange flickering bloom on the surface seemed to continue for a very long time, due to the sewer gasses he assumed.
What to do now? They were going to extreme methods to kill him, and although he could take them two or three at a time he deemed, they weren't playing 'fair'.
'I can't leave the kid' he thought as he maneuvered a disintegrating rotting corpse of some animal out of his way as he plowed on. He reckoned he had about seven to eight minutes left of air in his lungs, which would have been an astonishing amount of time for a normal man.
'They won't follow me down here' he mused. 'They're not that stupid. They'll be expecting me to get to Lance'.
After a moments pause, ghosting in the depths Harry came to a decision.
'Fuck it. I'll take a few of them with me!'
With a powerful kick of his legs Harry plowed on.

Re: The Chronicles of Harry Lacotte
Harry estimated he had dropped some 5 or 6 stories, now in the mid levels, areas of tighter tunnels and less cavernous space.
However his sense of direction was still keen, the strange concoction of blood in his veins human with strange reptilian elements meant that his metabolism slowed, his breathing slowed and a state of calm settled over him as he glided through the murk.
He was heading in the right direction, this would put him back beneath the Sovereigns territory, then he had to climb back up the chutes to the higher levels, returning to the Sewer Kingdoms. Broken from his reverie by the tightness starting to develop in his chest, he sensed a current in the water, the flow starting to gain movement.

Re: The Chronicles of Harry Lacotte
After checking the surface for any hazards he broke the surface with a huge gasp. Drawing in a huge lungful of air he scanned the area instinctively for a place to gain a handhold or exit, the sooner the better.
He treaded water, and with the change of atmosphere his metabolism changed and prioritised accordingly; unfortunately bringing the damage he had sustained that had been a dull aside in his mind to the fore that was swiftly building in its intensity. As his eyesight and body adjusted, he hissed and writhed in pain, and he noted his blood seeping and subtlety clouding the murk.
It was definitely time to get out!

Re: The Chronicles of Harry Lacotte
As Harry's faculties returned he began to become aware that the ledges had vanished, he was now in a smooth tunnel and the water travelling considerably faster.
Surfacing he shook his head, drawing in fetid air and seemed to wake up, the flow was pulling him fiercely now.
Looking around he realised this was an outlet tunnel one that channelled water down into the great underground rivers beneath the Capital.
"OH BLOODY BOLLOCKS" he bellowed as he was sucked down into the vertical shaft
