Etherscope - JP - Downtime

Mid February - 1984
The attic room stretched the entire length of the Shaftesbury Public House front to back, despite the dark, almost dirty demeanour of the still fundamentally Tudor building J.P.s lab was clean, almost clinical.
The floor coated in a non slip vinyl, the falls a slightly gloss white as not to encourage the damp or mould.
An array of chrome legged benches and tables dominated the centre of the room in an orderly rectangle.
The man of the house, master of his manor was studiously at work, his recent encounters with Brom's henchmen, had left him shaken and very much stirred up and J.P ha decided to even the lines of battle with what he knew and did best, God given pharmaceuticals or to you and I, Drugs!

The Finalising DC=20 to make a total DC of 61, on three rolls, JP decides to increase the Design Point Cost from 10 (out of his 28 Points) to 16 for another 2 rolls and to Take 20 on the Research Roll adding another 10 DPs for a total of 26.
This gives him 2 Research rolls one with a +20 and 3 Pharmacy rolls, costing 26 DPs.

Effect: The Gas creates a 10 foot circular cloud of thick obscuring gas, anyone failing to roll V the Potency DC is blinded by the thick smoke and suffers disorientation.
Example: JP decides to create a Potency DC: 18 Confusion Gas, which lasts for 6 Turns (1 minute), affects up to 10 people and disorientates them by giving a perception penalty of -8 & a skill penalty of -4.
The Design DC is 18+6+10 =39
The manufacturing DC is 3+5+5 =26
The Finalising DC=20 to make a total DC of 85, on three rolls, JP decides to increase the Design Point Cost from 20 to 26 for another 2 rolls and to Take 20 on the Research Roll adding another 10 DPs for a total of 36.
This gives him 2 Research rolls one with a +20 and 3 Pharmacy rolls, costing 36 DPs.
JP rolls an 18 (for Research), a 14, 17 & 18 for Pharmacy +20 for a total of 87, he creates the formula but with no successes over the Total DC of 3 it takes him the full 10 days.

The Blast Room - The Magdalene
On the fifth floor of The Magdalene Theater positioned at the rear of the floor was JPs laboratory, with equal measure it was affectionately and fearfully referred to as The Blast Room.
Its principle uttiliser JP sat at his drawing board, they were due to depart for France the following day however being the night owl he was he had been drawn to the manuscripts around alchemetic formula he had been given by Professor Wyck.
Curiously he had been able to decipher the old Latin script, glyphs and symbols pretty quickly, revealing a series of formula detailing the enhancement of physical characteristics, mimicking the prowess of cats or monkeys.
As he had thought in order to take these theorems beyond a feeling of physical well being, he needed his potent components, he was roused from his musing by a knock on the distant door, hesitantly one of the receptions, Miranda he thought to be her name, peeked nervously in the door.
"A package arrived for you earlier sir" he shouted somewhat delicately across the cavernous laboratory
"Can you pop it over to me" he called back, however no fear she had placed the package on the bureau just inside the doors and scarpered
He collected it, opening the envelope as he returned to his desk, it contained a letter, a small case and a small ornate dagger, its blade appearing to be pure silver. Immediately he sensed something otherworldly about the blade, opening the case it revealed three Scope tabs with curious celtic symbols on each, he turned his attention to the letter.
