Aetherium Timeline - 1600s to 1830s

  • 1690 - The Invisible College theorises the existance of Luminscent Aether.
  • 1760 - Invisible College illuminae John Joseph Merlin experiments with the incorporation of alchemy and automatons.
  • 1766 - Fearing that Britains renewed study of Alchemy represents new discoveries, The Count St.Germaine and Johann Christoph Von Wollner persuade Frederick II of Prussia to sponsor further study in the art, under the sypervision of The Order of the Golden and Rosy Cross.
  • 1799 - Polymath, Scientist and illuminae Thomas Young frustrated with the Royal Societys public dismissal of Luminscent Aether, begins experimentation to materialise it within a laboratory setting, he is apparently unsuccessful and subject to ridicule.
  • 1800 - A new variety of ferret is discovered in rural cornwall and the Americas, it is dubbed the Century Ferret.
  • 1812 - The Highbury Incident, Invisible College fellows Thomas Young and Augustine-Jean Fresnel conduct alchemetic experiments to manifest Luminescent Aether, the experiment unexpectantly unleashes Aether which destroys Highbury Manor. Miraculously Young and Fresnel both survive.
  • 1813 - The Mystrial, a mysterious wind travels the globe it carries a haunting whistling tune, strange weather patterns are experienced worldwide, rains of frogs, blood, snow in deserts, huge sandstorms as well as hurricanes and meteor showers. The wind is experienced the entire year, mysterious fortean occurances are chronicled throughout, including by Peninsular War forces.
  • 1814 - Pagans, spiritualists and occultists start to find that their rituals and summons are working.
  • 1815 - The Hellenic Awakening, the lands and islands of ancient Greece and Egypt awaken, magical power floods across the lands.
    In Greece and Egypt the first cases of The Changing Fever occur following several days of fever the inflicted are either changed or die, those changed are transformed into beast people, half man half animal. In Greece widescale fear, panic and violence spreads both within the Greeks and Ottoman occupiers. In Egypt the Beast Folk are generally welcomed as a sign of the return of the old gods, mythic creatures also reappear in Greece, as well as mythical places reappear in both places.
    The Duke of Wellington observes magical occurances during the Battle of Waterloo, notably ghostly soldiers of the Napoleonic campaign on the battlefield, Napoleans forces are still defeated.
