Mac lay in the bed staring up at the ceiling, listening to Lily’s soft breathing.
“Fuck!” He cursed silently, climbing back out of bed and dressing quietly. He grabbed a pistol and a knife and stuffed them down the back of his trousers pulling his shirt over the top to hide them.
It was quiet outside his room, he’d half expected to find an armed guard.it was easy to follow the fire exit signs to the stairwell. It was dim and dingy inside, the small lights at each level barely illuminating the space. He began trudging up the stairs.

Hades slipped through the corridors, he frowned slightly as he noticed that the corridor lights seemed to dim ahead of him, unperturbed he quickly found a stairwell and headed upwards.

Keeping to the shadows he cautiously reached the rooftop, scanning his comm he noted the coordinates lay on the neighbouring building, a twin tower telecom mast some 10 meters distant from the top of the Chi-town skyraker.

Whilst he surveyed the rooftop Hades is aware of a spiritual presence.

Walking into the cool night air he ignored the sensation of being watched, he walked toward the area the coordinates had indicated like a man weary from lack of sleep but too on edge to sleep.
Casually he leaned against the rails at the edge of the building and looked out over the Chicago night.
The city was surprisingly light, all things considered.
He recalled it being darker down on the ground. And a lot more dangerous!
Having tried to promote the nonchalant illusion he turned his mind to the presence he’d felt.
He closed his eyes, concentrating on the feeling, opening his senses to view the astral plane.

It was only recently that Hades had begun to invest in learning more around the mystic arts.

Even during his Brawl days his powers had just been there, he could smell slightly better, healed up quicker.

It was only during his time in the CZ that they had seemingly fully awakened, his healing advancing significantly triggered by survival instinct, in the short time since they'd been out he'd focused on learning more about the craft, notably learning how to conceal his nature from predators.

He concentrated opening his senses, his sense of smell and enhanced sight picking through the smells and sights, on this side of the wall he picked out industrial smells, past that the smell of decay and ozone from the electrical fluctuations up in the clouds.

Despite his previous attempts to see the astral plane having so far failed, through the morass of input he could pick out several otherworldly scents, the first smelt earthy, but seemed to have a confirting quality to it, like a warm fire on a cold day and surrounded him on the rooftop.

The other appeared to him visually like the thin vapour trail of an airliner, only golden in colour, he could barely see it, squinting in order to do so, almost a trick of the light.

The trail ran through the air from his rooftop to the top of the radio mast.

Hades marvelled at the sights and smells that he would normally never notice.
It was all so new to him and he felt like he was fumbling through all this mystical stuff. It was a sensation of uncertainty that he didn’t like.
In a sudden withdrawal he shut down his senses, totally bewildered by it all.
He likened it to being able to see the feedback from sonar but to the untrained eye it was just a bunch of bright lines scrolling down a screen.
As far as he was concerned he had an untrained eye and had no idea what any of what he had sensed meant.
It was a newly realised vulnerability that he wasn’t comfortable with.
He felt he’d be better off not knowing any of this stuff was there!

Knowing there was something here but not understanding what it was he looked to the empty roof and quietly said, “Come out, come out whoever you are!”
