The falling, limp form of Frank suddenly had a million points of reference available to his particular brand of senses.
Without the need to see he could sense the many small bits of metallic substance flowing with the spin of the tornado. He knew he was falling, and he knew he had to stop. So he did. With a thought that has become almost second nature he grabbed hold of the metal rings sewn into his clothes and simply stopped himself falling. Then he moved. He could sense the still eye of the hurricane about which all the metal revolved, and with another thought dragged himself into the tranquil eye.
But the eye didn't stay tranquil for long. Opening his eyes Frank saw the tumultuous cylinder drop away beneath his feet, and saw the vibrant blue legs of the lightning spider as it charged up the inside walls to greet him.
"Lightning, meet Mr Faraday, Mr Faraday meet Mr Lightning" muttered Frank as he pulled all available metals towards him. With a swift gesture of his hands the debris formed into a number of rings and looped around him like a gyroscope, just as the lightning reached him. The electrical tendrils arced off the makeshift sphere angrily. Drake smiled a smug smile, safe in the Faraday Cage. The electricity passed all around the sphere, but as Frank wasn't touching the cage, the lightning couldn't reach him.
After only a few seconds the lightning flashed brighter, then dissipated.
Feeling refreshed Drake collapses the makeshift cage and shoots up the eye of the hurricane, dragging any metal debris within range as he goes. He rises like a rocket, away from the dust clouds pulling fragments of metal into his wake.
"CURREN!" yells Drake, more mentally than physically, trying to sense the astral armour of his shipmate.
