The Crissy Fields - The Presidio of San Francisco - Close To The Witching Hour.
The marsh lands of Crissy Fields were awash with blood, a sea mist had suddenly rolled in off the Pacific, a drizzly spray poured from the marsh trenches.

The Prince of San Francisco had beaten the Sabbat back to the South, however there were frequent incursions, each hunted mercilessly.
Despite his craft with the shadows of oblivion they had ferreted him out, it was customary to bury them chained in the sands and let the sun take them.

However in the midst of procedings their ghouled soldiers had come under attack, some's skin unravelling like an onion, others melting whilst others still turned inside out, ghostly figures darted through the mist, kindred neonate enforcers falling before their attacks.

Benedict knew them for what they were, hailing from eastern stock he knew the Wan Kuei, the Eastern Kindred or Cathayans, but what were they doing here, there were rumours of the odd traveller in China town, but this was an invading force.
However he was not without his own means, the potent blood burned through his veins, his movements beyond human he intercepted the monsterous form emerging from the mists, his roundhouse kick struck it with such force that it physically burst.

He salivated the edges of the thirst quickening within him, he turned to the entombed Lasombra
"I can help you!" he shrieked in Spanish
"Yes you can" he replied in Gan dialect
The shadow kindreds completely black eyes swelled with blood, he tried to scream as Bendict invoked his ritual, a sigil shone on the Lasombras forehead as blood flowed from his head, the flow so frenzied it tore the vampires head from his shoulders.

Benedict felt the surge, he wove the swirls of rich black blood before him into an intricate pattern then with an explosive casting of his hands he blasted it ino the mist and spray.
Each of the Princes Kindred and Ghouls annointed with his arcane sigils shone with the infusion, healing the grievous injuries suffered and suddenly resilient to the Cathayans powers.
He sensed a surge of power, marshalling his own arcane defences he saw forks of lightning streak across the marshes, they washed over his defences and with swirling gestures of his hands he sent gale force winds raging back in return.

The mists dispersed by the winds he looked at his kindred comrades, their attackers gone as quickly as they had come, however in the still of the night he could see other hulking forms looming in the darkness.

***
City Hall - Polk Street
The Prince of the city looked from the highest vantage point, his office a secret in the highest levels of the halls dome.

Benedicts etherial voice echoed in his head, it updated him on the battle at Crissy Point, another incident, there had been attacks across the city, the Cathayans now held not only China Town but also most of the east side, he had chased the Sabbat back to their holes in Baja California he'd be damned if oriental monsters would take his city now.

Mile Rock Point - San Francisco North Shoreline - Close To The Witching Hour.
Despite the waters of the Golden Bay bring calm in the material world they were choppy in the twilight penumbra, winds whipped about them and their theurge Saunders kept their spiritual guards up as spiritual flotsam span around them.

Each bit of debrie sang with spirit power, the temptation to consume it strong, Saunders looked at him "Don't be foolish"
They were a mixed pack, some vagabonds or scouts, others separated from their packs or unwelcome by the established packs, the fighting with the local Pure Ones had done them little favours and now the great serpent was uncoiling.

The big shadowlord Stirbei snarled at both Saunders and him, little love lost between any of them, the Lord instinctively disliked the Silver Fang mystic whilst he was the lowest of the low a Bone Gnawer, the runts of the Garou, scavengers and the lowest of the low.

Crick was worse still metis, born of two werewolf parents back east, deformed and cast out, found by the Gnawers and taken in, he had heard his totems call and headed west.

Final member of their pack barked a warning 'Enough', one of the other outcasts, an Iron Rider, one of the garou who understood the ways of the weaver, in this case Susie Crowle was a big wolf, as big as Stirbei and not afraid to prove it, she bared her fangs each shone a gleaming golden colour.

The glowering black wolf, growled but looked away to the shoreline.

Each of them were in their lupus or wolf forms, sat upon the shell of a giant turtle, the great spirit propelled them across the Golden Bays waters as quickly as a steam boat, a flock of gaffling childen of gull wheeled around them warding off the flotsam and angry spirits that swarmed from the winds unexpectantly.

Crick always felt both uncomfortable but free when in his wolf form, in reality he resembled a large shaggy wolf dog, his eyes always shone red, whilst his left front paw was bald its skin gnarled and twisted, claws overly long which made running at speed painful, Gaia had been particulary unhappy with his birth he had many marks of shame.

The turtle surged up the beach, Crowle yipped and the wolves galloped off its shell onto the sand, he winced having plucked his long claws to keep up he left bloody pawprints as he went, Saunders turned and bowed his head to the great turtle which said something to the theurge before sliding back into the swirling sea and was gone.

Mission San Francisco de Asis, The North Point - San Francisco - 1869
The Franciscan mission dated back to the 1770's, built on the hill facing out from the north shore, the front of the building a mix of whitewash brick and wooden levels, its red slate roof had seen better days as had its sloping tiered garden that climbed the hill to the its entrance.

Behind the whitewash facade the building was wooden, its upper levels stretching back into the coastal hillside and covering a natural spring that sat within a crater, it was said that the pool was a blessed place that had originally drawn the friars.
As both the Anglican and Catholic Church had established increasingly ostentatious places of worship around the bay, the mission had fallen into less and less use, however this night it had once again become a place of sanctuary.

They had cut a bloody trail west finally making it to San Francisco, it had started in Arizona, with their discovery of the town of New Haven its folk turned into monsters, after a long fight they'd killed the master and put the town and its residents to the torch, seems the master had friends as they'd been hunted every night since.

During their travels they'd lost good folks and picked up a few allies, now they'd reached the Mission they'd hoped it would provide some protection but the predators were still circling.

Mission San Francisco de Asis, The North Point - San Francisco - 1869
Having completed a circuit of the ground floor Major Patrick O'Dowd trudged back upstairs, looking out from the first floor windows he noted that there were still prowlers in the grounds at the base of the hill.

Occasionally one made their way further up the hill, from their vantage points Perrin and Riley sighted up on them until they retreated, he snorted with annoyance before heading around the landing to the rear of the mission.
He moved through the dilapidated prayer halls and dormitories nodding to Miss Ive who was caring for the seemingly comatosed Lizzy Earl, another of their number laid low by their recent adversity. He stepped out to the rear balcony, overlooking the sacred spring, the wooden platform encircled the natural depression surrounding the pool, he noted Van Cleef guarding the walkway.

O'Dowd looked down at the pool, they had hoped the waters would revive their fallen Lizzy and Jessop however despite administering the waters they'd had no effect, now it seemed their refuge was a short reprieve at best.

He noted someone else had joined him at the balcony, "Doc, any change" he addressed Doctor Stoyne
"Nothing to report I'm afraid Major"
He nodded solemnly "Doc you seem to know about the things hunting us, anything we can use?"
"Only that they're not just the stuff of penny dreadfuls"
"Swell, lets hope Van Cleefs homebrews keep hurting them"
"One thing Major, I don't think its your guns keeping them at bay, but I think you know that!"
"The Mission, yeah it occured to me, lets hope it keeps it up, for all our sakes"

Russian Hill, Near North Point - San Francisco 1869 - Close To The Witching Hour.
There was fog and mist everywhere, weaving throughout the city streets, across the marshes and parklands of The Presidio and the surrounding hills.

The assembled group stood around a large dragon cauldron, the wrought iron vessel reputely forged from the designs of the legendary Li Shao Chun, thick vaporous fog streamed from it creeping across the land and down the hill.

From their vantage point they could see the Mission several miles across the hills, the hills chi was strongly aligned feeding from the Dragon line that ran from the local nests and through San Francisco de Asis.
The Lantern Master had completed his geomancy, Jade statues at August points harnessed the flow, the Master enacted the ritual a slow swaying of his arms, his two foot long fingers accentuating this motion.

Each of the additional Wan Kuei stood ready, watching the flow of Yang Chi as it flowed across the land like a ribbon of brass fire, the energy made them hunger but not all were sufficiently enlightened to drink straight from the dragons teat.
They were gathered from different Wu and different Dharmas, were it not for the edicts of their Mandarins they would be content with fighting each other, however these Jina had a greater task for the August Courts.

Having arrived with their mortal kin over the past months, years even decades their brethren now struck at the local Kin-Jin holdings, it was their time to seize the Golden City.

The Ritual intensified to such that winds within the mortal Middle Kingdom turned from a breeze to a gale, the Fire Chi had grown from a thin thread to a raging torrent, the Devil-Tigers went first, standing rigidly straight they crossed their arms to their shoulders and allowed themselves to fall from the hill top into the dragon flow.

Once the monsters had gone those of The Bone Flowers did the same dropping into the flow, leaving the administrators of The Resplendent Cranes who observed proceedings.

Mission San Francisco de Asis, The North Point.
Miss Ives scream was ear-splitting, almost something not quite human, the noise of such intensity that it might threaten to split the wooden beams of the building.
Sat in the kitchen O'Dowd looked up from his cards "Damn it!", he muttered glancing down to the two over-turned cards The Hierophant and The Moon, "Dark forces above and between Heaven and Hell, fuck sake" he looked heavenward passing his open palm over his Dragoons, a series of swirling violet symbols followed this gesture along the barrel.
He sprinted up the stairs from the cellar and then again from the ground to the first floor.

On the wooden balcony overlooking the spring and the pool,Van Cleef sprung out of the his rocking chair grabbing his Winchester, instead of heading for the source of the scream he ran down the spiral ramp to the wooden gantry over the bubbling waters.
Shouldering his rifle he cast his eyes over every shadow, quicky taking the lit torch and lighting up the rest sconsed in the cliff walls.

O'Dowd cursed age catching up with him, clearing two flights of stairs was a might harder these days
"Riley anything?"
"Grounds are thick with fog, can't see our prowlers"
O'Dowd shook his head, this wasn't good "Goes without saying keep lookin" he said as he cautiously peered into the dormitory "Shit"
Miss Ives's eyes were rolled back in her head, she now rocked in her chair silently screaming, whilst Jessop was still in his cot, Lizzy was thrashing around like a wild steer.
He made his way around the cots to Miss Ives, "Vannessa, Vannessa can you hear me" he said softly
Miss Ives bolted upright a surprised look upon her face, her eyes still white "They are coming Patrick, I can see fire and ghosts, they are coming!"
Squeezing her hand "Stay with us Vannessa", he stood quickly heading back to the door "Sawyer you got the front door?"
"Yep"
"Perrin?"
"With then youngster Major" replied a southern drawl
He looked across to the first floor windows where Riley and his daughter Lacey each covering one of the main bay windows at the front.

Mile Rock Point - San Francisco North Shoreline.
Still in lupus form the pack made their way cautiously through the sand dunes, sniffing the air and smelling the ground.
Aside from the ozone and odd burnt scent to the thick fog that enshrouded the marshes, they could smell something amiss, their hackles rising, Stirbei snarled a warning to whatever unseen danger might be awaiting them.

Saunders abruptly sat back on his haunches, he snarled and shifted, they could smell his rage as he forced the change uncomfortably quickly.
In homid form his eyes shone the same silver as his thick mane of hair and bushy sideburns, like Crick he was a metis, an outcast offspring of the forbidden mating of two garou, but in his rare case his rare deformity and his auspice had unusually denoted him as ordained.

His eyes the colour of Luna herself, even the most elitist of his aloof tribe were reticent about not recognising the significance or certainly refrained from disparaging it.
Still in her fur battleship grey wolf form, Susie watched him closely, the bonds of trust were still not full between them "What is it?"
Saunders had a distant look upon his face, "Why are we wasting time on fallen kings theatrics" sniped Stirbei, Crick looked at him which just prompted a further snarl
"A great movement of power in the Bright" replied the Theurge, with that he took his pocket watch out, flipped it open, looked into the mirrored surface, shimmered and vanished.
"Crick go with him" yipped Suzie
Stepping into the Penumbra he looked up to the churning clouds that in the spirit realm were a circling vortex above the city 'That dosen't look good at all' he thought
"That the problem" he said or rather yipped in his wolf dog form, gesturing to the storm clouds with his snout
The Theurge turned his face still, disconcerting metal eyes staring straight through him, as he seemed to ponder the question Crick warily took a step back as from the mist stepped a large furry elephant "He with you by any chance?"
"He is" replied Saunder's "He is my Totem"
"Your totem you follow Mammoth, but your a silver"
Saunders cut him off "Mr Crick, you and I are shame-born, before my curse of Luna was recognised, this Legendary spirit found me, who am I to argue" he said his hair whipped wildy by the wind
"Makes sense I suppose" however Crick disagreed there were curses and there were curses he thought looking down at his disfigured, corpse skin paw.
"And no thats a problem for tomorow" replied Saunders looking up at the clouds "A big problem for tomorow, thats todays problem" the Theuge said pointing east
Crick peered at the sky but all he could see was fog and clouds "What is!"
Saunders sighed "Mr Crick, you are a Garou somewhere in that ruffled form is a great spirit, draw upon it and open your eyes"
"Alright, alright" grumbled Crick "No need to be personal about it!" the Theurge wasn't listening now confering with the furry elephant
The Bone Gnawer focused, closing his eyes he thought of the ants and cockroaches, of the weeds that grew in the cracks of city walls, opening his eyes he noted a number of ant spirits milling around his paws "Thats it Mr Crick" shouted Saunders
Looking up he had to squint, then he caught it, a ribbon of fire, flickering in and out of existence that travelled the night sky, from one hill to the next "I can see it, barely" he shouted back "What is it a fire spirit?"
"No its no elemental force, it isn't good, its smells wrong!"
The Theurge quickly scribed a glyph circle in the umbral sand, although his inscription was corrected on two occasions by Mammoth's trunk, the mystic frowned but said nothing
Intoning a chant in an ancient tongue Saunders shifted into his full werewolf or Crinos form, now some 8 feet tall a fusion of man and wolf with pure silver fur, he howled into the Umbral heavens
Flickering fiery symbols manifested, swirling around the werewolf, their orbit quickened and then started to rise, Mammoth trumpeted into the sky, the sound deafening flotsum and jetsome lifted from the sand and blasted into the sky.

Crick looked wide eyed as Saunders gestured skyward, the symbols coalesced into a spear of silver fire floating above them, the Theurge focused on the ribbon and both he and Mammoth roared, the silver spear lanced upwards.
The three of them watched as it arched across the sky and in an explosion of colour and fire tore into the stream of fire.

The Dragons Tail - San Francisco 1869 - The Witching Hour.
The golden surge of Chi, the dragons breath raged across the intervening sky like a torrent, Tan Zhi roared in exhilaration, despite being a century dead being a Devil-Tiger she was infused with Yang Chi and revelled in emulating the fire of life.
She along with her Wan Kei brethren soared through the current like dolphins skipping through ocean waves, their rivals among the Bone Flowers being Yin aspected bore the yang fire, as uncomfortable as its life fire was to their cold dead flesh.

The current suddenly bucked like an angry steer as something struck it with collosal force from the west, the flow of yang energy momentarily reversed sweeping the hurtling Wan Kei up and sending them tumbling wildly in the current.
The Devil Tigers roared muted outrage, their mouths no longer anything human a huge rictus of needle fangs, each Cathayan marshalled themselves with their own Yang energies, swimming against the raging flow of golden fire.

Either the flow restored itself or their Lantern Master had managed to regain control, the current started to flow once again to their destination, only to be immediately struck by another huge bolt of energy, this time from above and, this time accompanied by the ear splitting crack of thunder and flash of lightning.

A few of the Devil-Tigers and bone Flowers pushed through, their mastery of Chi giving them enough impetus and speed to outrun the currents wild undulations as it lost its shape, spiralling out of control, other members of the Wu seemed to jettison themselves early however some of the Bone Flowers were not so unfortunate erupting in flames, their risen forms infused with cold Yin energies they were quickly consumed by the opposite Yang fire.

Mission San Francisco de Asis, The North Point - The Witching Hour.

La piscina bendita de asis
Despite his watching for intruders Van Cleef half jumped out of his skin as a figure just appeared in the air above the pool, it seemed to have been travelling at some speed as it slammed into the cliff wall behind the pool with an almighty thud and plummeted headlong into the waters.

Another figure crashed out of nowehere and then another, he didn't flinch trigger finger squeezing as the first one appeared, his 5 gauge blunderbuss had shit range but in these close quarters that wasn't a problem, despite his being proficient with the hand cannon it still slammed him back into the wall, however it had blown the head and shoulders off his target, who's body slumped lifelessly spewing thick black ichor from its now vacant neck.

Pushing himself off the wall he noticed the second one had landed on the ramp up toward the mission house and was high tailing it to the door.
"No fuckin way" he grunted hefting his Spencer Repeater to his shoulder from its sling, sighted up and his first shot caught the figure in the back of the skull, he blinked in disbelief as it staggered back, reaching up and touched the back of its head then turned snarling down at him.

"Sonuava" he levered another round and put one through the side of its skull, again and through the back of its kneck, by now it was stumbling back, he kept firing a couple of rounds hitting its upper body before his next hit its lower jaw as it drunkenly turned, this ones blood was a golden colour as its face literally disappeared.
Van Cleef breathed a sign of relief until he caught movement from the corner of his eye, the third had pulled itself up out of the pool, a thick white steam rising off it, he spun firing off the Spencers last round at headheight, but this one was quick it moved in a blur ducking the shot.
"Shit, shit, shit" he cursed fumbling, he dropped the rifle letting it swing on its sling, he ignored it painfulling slapping his thigh as he quickdrew his Dragoon in his left and his hunting knife in his right.

He put four rounds in it as it advanced, it hissed his little concoctions seeming to hurt it a bit more than it expected, he could feel his breathing getting ragid, panicked.
His eyes widened, its skin had become ridged like the plates of a crab, spines pushed their way through this carapace, its face now encased in the armour, it had taken on a grey doughy complextion, its black eyes the colour of shiny coal, its mouth a hideously wide maw filled with row after row of lamprey like teeth. Its stone like fingers ending in wicked curved knife like talons, when it hissed more of the white vapour poured from its mouth.

He took a step back, looking down he noticed it had some form of fleshy bag distented from its groin, it made a retching noice and before Van Cleef could react it vomited a stream of steaming, putrescent fluid over him, Van Cleef collasped his body immediately wracked by virulent fever and convulsions.
He was barely able to look up, as his vision began to blur he saw the thing collasp white vapour pouring from its steaming body, the thing convulsing violently. He wheezed his throat swelling so badly he felt like he was holding his breath, he slip down the stone lip just above the pool and let himself slide into the water.

Mission San Francisco de Asis, The North Point - The Witching Hour.
On the first floor of the Mission, Van Cleef's gunfire split the silence like a knife.
Thomas and Lacey Riley had their rifles shouldered sweeping the darkness, O'dowd had positioned himself halfway up the stairs whilst down at the back of the lobby Sawyer hid behind a bureau he'd pulled away from the wall, somewhere in the shadows stalked Perrin.

They listened as the thunder of Van Cleefs handcannon was replaced with rapid rifle fire from this Spencer.
"Pat?" said Riley
O'Dowd kept scanning the darkness "Yep" he replied, Lacey pulled away from her post at the large first floor window leaving her father to man the position.
She'd just reached the door when another shrill scream came from Miss Ives, she glanced back as a gust of freezing cold wind tore through the Missions hallway despite all the exterior doors being closed, a figure materialised from the wall accompanied by tendrils of cold black shadow.
The figure spun snapping a blinding roundhouse kick catching Lacey in the chest and sending her crashing out through the door leading to the outside balcony above the pool, Thomas Riley's Elephant Gun roared the round exploding through the left side of the figures torso and leaving a foot wide hole in the timber wall behind.

Riley reloaded frowning as he saw the figure flip itself back to its feet, its left arm hanging limp at its side, it charged along the landing quickly closing on him.
It was terrifying to look at, skin an ashen grey, snarling it revealed long ebon fangs, the fingers of its right hand over a foot long with claws another foot in length.
Reshouldering his long rifle the Texas Ranger watched as the very shadows themselves were drawn to the monster "Will you fucking die" he spat firing again, however this time despite the shot being a bullseye to its heart, the shot seemed to pass harmlessly through the monster without it even slowing.
As it reached Riley he drew his Bowey knife but the thing was hideously fast, its right arm had impossibly stretching out like some hideous whip and lashing around with immense force striking him in the head, sending him crashing into the wall and knocking him out cold.
The creature paused over Riley, shaking the use back into its left arm, he bowed to the unconscious man before him
"My apologies" it said with all sincerity in Manchurian, before turning toward the dormitory doors.

O'Dowd was torn seeing events unfold he turned to move upstairs but as he did he spotted something in the lobby, the atrium was lined by 6 foot tall pictures depicting the early Spanish missionaries trials in the hostile lands, reflected in the glass picture frames he saw a figure moving from frame to frame. He fired off a round at the figure on the landing before hurrying down the stairs.

From his vantage point behind the bureau Sawyer peered out seeing O'Dowd move down the stairs, as he looked back his eyes widened as a swirling stream of ghostly shapes flooded from one of the pictures, streaming across the lobby and swarming all over him.
Sawyer screamed trying to fight them off whilst rolling around on the floor as if on fire, O'Dowd fanned his Dragoon, glowing rounds tearing into the pictures, ripples of purple energy erupting across them, the figure rapidly flittered from relfective surface to reflective surface to escape the onslaught before the final pictures glass turned smokey black and a figure leapt out.

O'Dowd passed his hand over the revolver and continued to lay down fire dspite the weapon having fired all six bullets moments before, two of the glowing rounds struck the creature sending it flying back against the missions great double entrance doors.
His sixth sense prompted him to look behind him, he was already moving as a golden mist erupted from thin air on the stairs above him, he leapt into a roll from the last steps into the lobby as a large shape pounced its hand or paw brushing his back as it flew over him.
"Another one" he breathed heavily as he stopped rolling and came up into a crouch, he was breathing heavily his reserves were getting low and begin to tax him physically, the newcomer had placed itself between him and the figure from the picture, this one was even worse it resembled some kind of cross between a gator and a lion with deep red skin and snke like eyes, he knew it was another of the figures but in a different shape.
'We take much more of this' he thought to himself, he concentrated his eyes not leaving the beasts which was prowling from side to side ready ton pounce.

Tan Zhi watched the crouched mortal, she had survived the disruption of the Dragon Lines Harmony by quickly entering the Yang World, unsure of her fellow Devil Tigers progress or even survival, having arrived within the Yang Realm echo of this holy place she had observed the Bone Flowers encountering much resistance from these mere humans, curiously they seemed devoid of the usual blind fear from facing Immortals, almost like western versions of the Shih, this was troubling.

Especially this one who bore some form of blessing and protection, she shielded the Bone Flower as he reconstituted himself, she sensed Chi flow around the man, she hissed, he was crafting it, her hiss reached out sending a wave of fear over the rear of the lobby, the boy writhed and his further screams were pleasing to her, but the odd mortal didn't flinch, with that she sprang.

O'Dowd snapped the Dragoon up, he sensed a cold breeze creep across his face like ghostly hands trying to freeze his soul and fill him with terror, his runes kept it at bay, the lizard lion came at him leaping with blinding speed, but she wasn't faster than a bullet, he caught her in the front of her chest and flitched as the bullet exploded as if he'd fired a cannonball.
"UP AND AT EM" he shouted not waiting to see what had happened to the beast, firing again at the ghost figure another explosion shook the lobby destroying the main doors.

Mission San Francisco de Asis, The North Point - The Witching Hour.
Doctor John Stoyne sat in the darkness of the dormitory, he was shaking, he looked with worry at the shaking form of Miss Ives who just stared into space and the unconcious forms of Jessop and Lily.

First to the rear of the dormitory outside came gunfire lots of gunfire, then outside in the hall, then downstairs the whole Mission was under siege.
He froze as the door creaked open, he turned slowly a big lump in his throat, all he saw was shadows until a pale oriental man stepped out of the darkness right in front of them.
The mans skin was ashen grey, stretched tightly over black bones, this lined his face with charcoal lines, his eyes were also coal black like a sharks, nothing about this man was natural or living.

"原諒我的打擾 (Yuánliàng wǒ de dǎrǎo - Forgive my intrusion)" the man said bowing to Stoyne, who continued to look at him wearily, noting that the mans tattered Dagua hung from his emaciated shoulders, great tears through the cloth across his chest and side.
"我們的意思是你沒有傷害" (Wǒmen de yìsi shì nǐ méiyǒu shānghài - We mean you no harm)
"I'm, I'm sorry I.........Don't understand you" stuttered Stoyne
"我們只想要這個地方,我們邀請您安全離開" (Wǒmen zhǐ xiǎng yào zhège dìfāng, wǒmen yāoqǐng nín ānquán líkāi - We just want this place, we invite you to leave in safety)
Stoyne jumped as voices suddenly answered from beside him, turning he saw both Miss Ives and Lily looking at the man, eyes completely white
"這個神聖的地方不是你的,滾開!" (Zhège shénshèng dì dìfāng bùshì nǐ de, gǔn kāi! - THIS SACRED PLACE IS NOT YOURS TO TAKE CREATURE, BEGONE!) they both bellowed in unison, Stoyne was convinced neither of them spoke Chinese
The creature snarled exposing long midnight black fangs "那是不幸的,那將是你的墳墓,愚蠢的母豬!"(Nà shì bùxìng de, nà jiāng shì nǐ de fénmù, yúchǔn de mǔ zhū! - That is unfortunate, then it will be your tomb, foolish sows!)

Stoyne might not be able to speak Chinese or Japanese but he knew a threatening tone well enough, the creature stepped toward them into the circle of light emitted by their oil lamp, as it did it crossed the circle of salt and water from the pool.
Whereabouts this didn't appear to harm it, it looked with surprise as white vapour flooded from the circle and its body, looking through the billowing pearlescent fog its face was predatory and it took another step, bringing it within arms length of Stoyne.
"NO FURTHER CREATURE" Miss Ives bellowed, the shout shaking the room itself, the creature blinked as she spoke rapidly in tongues, language that the Doctor had never heard, it staggered back as he seemed to shine with an inner light, trying to shake it off, it stumbled back its hand outstretched as if to ward off Miss Ives chanting.

Stoyne looked in disbelief from his charges back to the creature, Lily had now sat upright silently staring at the creature still with ghostly pure white eyes, the circle of water still smoked and released the thick white vapour and the creature continued to walk backwards into the shadows.
Shadows that now circled behind him, the Doctor continued to watch as it hissed and spat but stepped into the swirling vortex of shadow and disappeared, the circling aperture closing and the shadows were still once more.

However the room still shook as Miss Ives continued to chant.

The Gongshang Tuenti Guildhouse - Tianyun Square, Chinatown
The Chee Kung Tong were the guardians of the Gongshang Tuenti, the guardians of the Oriental Masons.
The younger men being fighting zhanshi had assembled in the square to defend the Guildhouse whilst the elders sat still drinking tea.

The Wing Kong Doushi emerged from the west road that ran off Jackson Avenue, the Chee kung readied themselves, both groups squaring up to each other looked as a third party entered the square from the east avenues, the Wing Kong in black, the Chee Kung in Jade Green and the third group in purple.

The standoff continued for several long minutes before they broke, shouting battle cries as the square became a sea of combat and blood.
The two watchers from the rooftops had arrived, their anticipation that the Wing Kong would retaliate against the assassination of some of their number, it was unlikely the Chee Kung were the perpetrators but that wasn't the point.

Another attack on the Chee Kung, the fourth in as many days served the purpose of their master in his push for the territory of China Town.
The woman of the pair was damned if their master would make such a claim unless every one of them was dead.

Before her partner could stop her she swept from the nearby rooftop landing in the midst of the scrum, with almost inhuman speed she felled both Wing Kong and the other opponents whilst protecting her wards the Chee Kung.
Her roundhouse kicks were tremendously powerful shattering jaws and sternums as they struck, she heard gunfire the Wing Kong displaying their dishonour but resorting to the Laowai's use of guns, they quickly fell as her partner sent arrows from the shadows picking the gunmen off.

The battle raged and then as had happened on the previous four battles the combatants retreated back into the alleyways and avenues from which they had arrived, the aim was to whittle them down, demoralise them, she looked at the dead and injured, family men mained by hatchets, legs shattered or dying from gunshot wounds.

This was the war of The Tongs.
