Paranoia started to rage within Harrys head, it was second guessing, shivers down the spine and constant looking over the shoulders that kept a man alive down in the depths.

Looking at the tunnels or the market ahead of them, an area full of crowds would provide ambush opportunities but it also provided any opponents with obstacles and even enemies.

Or they could take the tunnels, meet their enemy head on or would they!, would they instead be overwhelmed in some dark corner.
He was a big creature so the Sheriff wouldn't send a couple of cut throats, no their attack would either be to catch Lance apart from Harry or to ambush the pair enmass.

Bearing in mind that he probably wouldn't leave Lance, the latter would probably be the the route.

Neither choice was particularly palatable, in his mind a great big grandfather clock chimed, 'Times ticking Harry' he thought to himself,
with that he pushed lance into the market and into the throng of Gamma traders and shoppers.

The smell of cooking food and unwashed bodies assailed Harry’s nostrils as he forced his way through the subterranean markets crowd as Lance followed closely behind him. The steam from the cooking stoves swirled around, as the babble and tumult of traders and customers alike rose and fell like insects in a rain forest. Gaslights flickered from makeshift chandeliers bolted to the dank walls that spluttered and added their naptha smell to the reek, as the crowd buffeted and undulated like waves on a sea boat.

However, even with these distractions Harry scanned the crowds for danger with a brutal intensity.

There were any number of routes out of the market, smaller access tunnels in the upper chambers and ceiling, subterranean rail lines to the north side, sewer and outlet tunnels flowing back toward into the Thames and various exits back into the warren.

The question was more which would not be watched, perhaps its was Lacotte's paranoia, however it looked like the word was already out.
People generally gave him a wide fearful berth, however it was the wary scowls the assembled throng of gammas and sewer folk gave Lance that warned that the hunt was on!

'Aht of my way chaps' he growled with a menace that travelled even though he kept his voice even as he started to move quickly through the throng, gently moving people out of his way as he weighed up his options. 'No one needs to get hurt by my hand today'.

'Stay close Lance' he said as he squinted in all directions for interceptors. 'Can yer swim?' he asked.

'As soon as we're clear, they'll try and pop us.' he thought grimly.

<Does Harry know if any of the traders he knows (maybe for good or bad) may have a hidden weapon in their stalls? Preferably a gun?>

Scanning every face covered with a scarf, every furtive figure, every suspicious stare Harry swept the stalls before his gaze settled upon a reassuringly familiar face 'Norse', a large Norwegian bear of a man not far in stature than Harry, although far more rotund.

His stall ladened with smoked fish and smoked gator rats, the urchins warily surveyed the yellow carcasses but each refrained from half inching one, instead screwing their noses, Norse discouraged any further thoughts with a firm chop of his cleaver.

Quickly greeting Norse with a nod, wink and a grim smile Harry pulled out a sheaf of notes and placed them on his stall.

'Let me have the special of the day Norse' he said softly to the man. 'Make sure that its well wrapped if you please'.

On top of the notes, he tapped his thumb and forefinger, with his other fingers clenched.

'I'm eating on the fly today!' he grunted. 'Get the lad a rat kebab' he gestured at Lance with his other hand.

Norse Nods, wrapping several joints of smoked meet in linen, a man of few words as he deftly prepares the meat his eyes dart around until he fixes on something. He frowns and nods towards something behind Harry.

As he passes the linen packages across, Harry notices that there is a card tucked into the cloth.

Giving the appearance that he is checking the wrapping of the meat he flips the card over to read it.

Nodding his thanks to Norse, he passes the package over to Lance.

<Did it feel like Norse had placed a weapon in the package?>

<Spot of 21 : What was Norse pointing out with his eye gesture? I will attempt to look covertly around without giving myself away.>

Harry's strange claws extend, as he flexes his hands in preparation, also noting where Lance is located in relation to him.

As Harry turned to hand Lance his food, he discreetly cast his gaze in the direction of Norse's warning, he spied several figures idling around stalls, each had a scarf covering their mouth and nose. 'Nothing too untoward with that' Harry thought, the smell and gasses in the Kingdoms were stomach turning at the best of times, but still he noted the circling of predators around their prey.

Lance stood just off to his right, taking in his surroundings, carefully unwrapping the top layer of wax paper he found not a weapon but a card, a Tarot card.

Harry deftly whips the card from the package that Lance is holding.

<Sleight of Hand 12>

'Wait for my signal, then get low amongst the stalls and make your way through to the fortune teller. Hopefully I'll follow shortly'. He whispers into his hand..

'Blaady 'ell!' he suddenly roared, as he nudged Norse and pointed in a direction what he believes is behind most of his pursuers. 'Look at the tits on that!'

<Bluff of 9>
<Distraction of 9> for Lance's benefit.

<Spot of 14: How many of the people seem to register my reaction the quickest? Which would probably identify those who are actively watching us?>

<Dexterity of 15> Harry breaks into a dash in the opposite direction to Lance to close on the nearest known pursuer and attempts to land a kick between their legs.

Lance gulps, fear has pallor'd his skin, as Harry surges bolt upright he hits the ground and scrambles beneath Norse's stall, where the big man gives him a helping foot propelling him under the tarpaulin and canvas of the stalls.

A large number of the gammas and sewer folk all turn to catch the aforementioned tits, one masked figure seems to spot exactly what is occuring and cuts right quickly, exploding through a stall Harry quickly comes across another scarf concealed figure who eyes widen as the monsters great boot pendulums toward him.

Harry's significant boot connected with the first assailants chest producing a satisfying thump, lifting the Gamma off his or her feet and sending them crashing into a stall on the other side of the market narrow.

The insightful pursuer has broken into a run between the stalls, seemingly in pursuit of Lance.
Harry arrives at the prone form quickly, the form beneath is a female Gamma, who has a collection of knives and an air pistol.

Harry grabs the largest knife from the prone form and for a split second weighs it in his hand.

Squinting, gauging the distance he throws the knife at Lance's pursuer.

<There is Deeds>

Flipping the blade in the air hilt first, Harry allowed the dagger to fall back to his awaiting hand, watching the pursuer weave between the stalls he weighed his chances, raised his arm and flung the blade.

It arced spinning across the distance, between the upright poles of the market carts canvas roofs, past unsuspecting Gammas and struck hilt first with a sharp crack the back of the pursuers head. Who promptly dropped like a stone.

Harry allows himself a split second to punch the air.

'Get in!' he roared.

'Who's next you bastards?' he cries as he scans the crowd for the hunters, goading them to follow him.

Spotting a drainage flu on a far wall, Harry manoeuvred between the stalls.
He grimaced as accompanied by the sound of pops, he realised he was under fire, a small sting in his guts, another gash across his cheek, around him he heard howls and noticed pieces of stall chipping away.

'That went a bit too well' he thought grimly as he dashed over to the drainage flue, any moment tense to the expectation of further impacts.

Crouching low, he desperately attempted to wrest the flue open.

<Strength of 22>

'Come on, come on!' he willed himself as he wiped the blood from his face with the back of his hand.

He noticed them creep past the stalls, another hail of pellets clattered and pinged off the stonework.
He noted a couple of gamma stall owners lying in their own blood from head wounds, with a wrench he tore the cover off the flue.

Holding the grate like a shield in front of his face Harry takes a quick glance above the level of the stall to ensure that it isn't an innocent coming his way. He holds the grate in readiness, far enough away from his head to prevent a recoil impact on it hitting him.

Furtive almost panicked movements stilled and an ominous stillness settles over the market.
The scent of blood filled Harry's nostrils, a hunger rumbling in his belly.

The the market lit up, his arms recoiled as a loud screeching thud ended in a mess of shrapnel exploding off the grill, Harry felt slivers slip through the grill slits and into his flesh, pieces of metal peppered his legs as a gamma launched itself off the nearby stall but unfortunately mistiming their attack slams into the grill.

Lance skittered and slid across the detritus of the market floor, he felt the impending knife closing on him. He scrambled beneath the stalls, dodging kicks and shrieks, losing track of this pursuers he weaved until he caught sight of the purple fabric betraying the mediums tent.

Bolting from beneath the last stall he darted through the drapes his heart pounding within his chest, however his panic and fear quickly evaporated as he took in the inner sanctum.
The walls were adorned with elaborate wooden frames suspended from which were numerous timepieces, lanterns and clockwork figurines, each moved in their own orbits creating a bewildering phantasmagoria.

He slowly moved further into the tent, the suspended devices gave the inner sanctum of the tent the perception of being vastly greater inside than out.
Moving around the frames and drapes he arrived at another curtain, cautiously pulling it aside he started as he came face to face with a mannequin, he started again as it moved swiftly grabbing him by his collar and sprayed a cloud of gas into his face.

Immediately Lance’s vision swam, rough strong hands caught him as he fell and he blacked out.

***
From within the inner sanctum of the mediums tent, Madame Viskanna patted the hand of the slightly scruffy toff across the table from her, he nodded to her and left with his thanks.
She turned, removing the silk cover over a small green screen “Quickly” she hissed, watching the automaton lift the unconscious form up and step through a curtain.

Shortly afterward several small gammas bustled into the tents foyer, before long they tentatively pulled the curtain aside to her sanctum, all the while watched by her floating eyes.

Harry releases one hand from the grill. An audible crack is heard as his razor sharp claws retract. Swinging his hand down to the fallen form he attempts to gouge its eyes and dash the gamma's head against the stall table, whilst flinging the grill at the assailant with the projectile weapon.

Harry felt a slight tearing sensation as the filaments tore his legs as he shifted back up onto his feet, the closest Gamma staggered back from striking the grill. In a blur of sheer savagery Harry darted his arm forwards feeling the small humanoids eyeballs pop as his claws tore through into his skull, Harry's other arm swept around in an arc and sent the grill hurtling through the market.

His attention returned to his squealing captive sweeping him down and slamming his head into the cobbled floor, he squinted as a great dollop of gore and skull covered him, looking across the grill had demolished a stall, slammed into his snipers shoulder and thrown them across the far side of the market.

'To the death then, you fuckin' bastards!!' he roared as he fought to contain his blood lust, rage and indignation at the carnage they had started, and the inevitability of him taking them up on the offer.

Fight or flight? His instincts howled through the blood and pain.
Willpower of 5
His psyche shrugged as the beast leapt over the wrecked stall towards the downed sniper, leaving red ruin in his wake..

The red mist descended over Harry as he stood awaiting his enemy, the market had cleared of traders now.

Then filing in between the stalls the Kingdoms thugs came, all in all 20 of them, armed with cudgels, knives and makeshift firearms.

Harry suddenly broke to the right, vaulting the wreckage and charging for the wall.
The thugs seemed a little stunned faced with the monster who then vanishes before they break into a ruckus.

Harry however had by this stage reached the wall where he'd wrenched the grill free, he quickly swung his legs into the descending tunnel and let go, disappearing down into the depths.
