'Hmm' he thought aloud. 'I think a cunning disguise may be in order for us here.'
The bustling city was enveloped in a stifling heat with a light mist that clung to the houses and cul de sacs with not a breath of wind to alleviate it. The sky was overcast with the threat of rain evident in the heavy dark swollen clouds that hung in the sky like massive zeppelin balloons. When it did rain it would be warm water the Englishman surmised.
Curren loosened his tie and undid the top buttons of his shirt as sweat began to bead and drip from his forehead.
'Reminds me of Singapore, the weather that is.' he said aloud to no one in particular.
'Phew!' He exclaimed as he vainly tried to fan himself with his hand.

Do I have the ability to shape my astral form to appear like one of the indigenous population? It would be more of an illusion than a physical mask.
Also, have I been able to bring the tome with me? And was I in any way able to bond it to one of us so it could be a point of reference?
And further to the tome, if we couldn't bring it with us I would have looked into (with Frank if he wnated to) summoning the spirit/elemental of the tome to maybe act as a guide.

As the soldiers pondered their next course of action, the winds of the Quest took a hand.
"Whatza a Bazher to do, when hiz berkz arz wanderinz off" a goblin like creature dressed in a tunic like robe, akin to something from Hendersons Animation workshop.
Wide bucket like mouth, skin of a texture not disimilar to a toads, greenish yellow in palour and tiny black eyes.
Curren's attention was imediately drawn to a set of three pocket watches and chains hanging from the inner garments of his tunic, while Drake to an intricate latix-work of thin brass strand encircling his pudgy arm.
The creature led them through the network of alleyways and iron embellished streets, both Soldiers discreetly raising their defences, a faint play of newly acquired lightning dancing across one soldiers hands.
The usual game of motivational or trust feint and parry ensued, until both recognising the signs of some degree of allied purpose in the creature and accepted his hospitality in his dwelling within the labyrinthine basements of one of the medieval tower blocks.
While Drake stood guard and the goblin made some refreshments and seemed to grumble considerably to no-one in particular, Curren drew up his Arcane Circle around the tome.
The summoning ritual was vigerous but not immensely taxing, until after some 8 hours an ethereal humanoid materialised standing atop of the book.
Its form was made up of soft or fuzzy threads of electric blue light, its eyes brilliant flashes of white light, with a swirling haze within its form giving it an unreal dimension and depth.
"Thatz nize" chattered the goblin fairly non-plussed, as he placed a pot of refreshments upon an iron table, at which point both soldiers exchanged an exasperated look, particularly Curren who by this time was dripping with sweat and had quite a headache.

During the 8 hours that Curren focuses, Frank will have introduced himself to the goblin creature, and generally kept an eye on things.
As soon as Curren is finished Frank hands him a steaming cup of something, making sure Curren isn't going to pass out before turning to the dazzling blue spirit.
There is an unwritten rule of etiquette amongst summoners that the summoner should be the first to greet the spirit, so Frank duly waits for Curren to speak first, not wanting to appear rude.

Curren stands after finishing his cuppa, clears his throat and stands respectfully to attention. He announces to the spirit 'On behalf of we travellers of knowledge, I bid you welcome.' he performs an elegant bow to complete the greeting.
'May I introduce Mr Francis Drake, he's going to ask some questions of you.'
The englishman gestured for the gnome to continue; as he once again sits down and rests his eyes.

"er... OK" says Frank, slightly caught off guard before standing and bowing to the spirit.
Ahem. He clears his throat.
"Greetings O mighty and knowledgeable spirit of the Tome."
Ahem. He clears his throat again.
"We, the aforementioned Travellers of Knowledge, or Travelodge for short" he sniggers at his own joke, but the stern glare from Curren soons puts him straight.
"Anyway, I would like to ask a few question O wise one. Do you know of the origins of the entity we call Gagglepus?"
