A shudder of apprehension if not fear ran down Otto's spine, the link didn't flood his consciousness with data rather it swam around him like a predatory creature. As if the pair of them were circling each other, sizing each other up before one moved for the kill.

The code was not the amalgamation of Stings and some alien, no this was something quite different!

‘You were right to be wary’ Otto thought to himself as he narrowed his eyes into a boiling etheric mist that emanated from the being he had known as ‘Sting’. The mist reminded him of electrically charged platelets and plasma that moved at dizzying speed around it. As he continued to scrutinise it, the mist began to move towards the Xert, bombarding and surrounding him. It seemed to act almost like a camouflage that made the construct difficult to pinpoint.

Then a strong pulse of data hit him, breaking through some of his outer defensive ‘firewalls’.

He dropped to his knees as a whirring scream of raw energy blasted into his being. He put his hands over his ears, a futile gesture, more a reflex action as he writhed with the sheer magnitude of the force produced.

Eyes opening the world around him had become one of faceted blue crystal, he tumbled forward sliding into oblivion down into a crystalline abyss.

Ominous red light shone though the facets, from the other side of the wall, he plummeted, spinning in infinity, angels in the architecture before crashing into a pool, a pool of gel like data, numerical sequences flowing around him like a turbulent shoal of fish.

The green data swirl was disturbed, the depths illuminated red light returning as Sting swam from the darkness.
